About Us
he Connecticut Fly Fisherman's Association, Inc.is organized "To Preserve and Promote the Pleasures and Tradition of Fly Fishing and to Conserve Game-Fish Waters."
The CFFA is much more than fishing. Our association works with the DEP to monitor the Willimantic River with yearly bio-assessments. The CFFA also offers classes for beginners who want to learn how to fly fish, tie their own flies or build their own rod. We have many experienced club members who enjoy sharing their knowledge about the many aspects of this wonderful sport.
If you are looking for a hobby that is low key and gets you “away from it all” then this is it. When you catch your first fish on your first fly that you tied while using the fly rod you built you will feel the gratification and joy and the beginning of an addiction to fly fishing.
Fly fishing is a sport for all ages. Some of our members were introduced to fly fishing at a young age while others started after they retired. It does not matter what your background is, come to one of our monthly meetings and see for yourself. You will see a wide range of individuals from one of our oldest members, Ernie, who is 83 years young, to Jimmy who is 12.
Please don’t think that fly fishing is “just for guys”. You will be pleasantly surprised to see some gals at the meetings and you may even bump into them while they fish on the Farmington and Willimantic Rivers in Connecticut along with the Beaverkill and Salmon Rivers in New York.
If you love the outdoors, traveling, meeting new people and have an interest in rivers and the environment, then the CFFA has much to offer. This year we have also sponsored two schools as they participate in the Connecticut River Salmon Association’s “Salmon In The Classroom”.
Remember, there are no strangers at the club meetings, only friends you haven't met yet.
