Moose Hair Options

A friend of mine gave me a bunch of moose hair. He thought I could use it for tying up some flies.
My question is - what kind of flies use moose?!!

I usually use moose mane for antennae on like stone flies or sometimes I use it for the legs also. If what you have is a piece of the hide you can use any hair like deer hair, moose hair, elk, antelope etc. for your flies that have hair wings some patterns call for polar bear hair wings but we substitute with bucktail or something else like a synthetic. If the hair is long enough it will make a nice wing or even a tail it's really not much different than elk or deer except for the color maybe. Or put it in a coffee grinder and make some dubbing out of it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Moose mane makes good tails on large dry flies. Also good antenea on terrestrials and small stone fly nymph tails. I have also used it for quill style bodies on small dries. Someone gave me a bunch years ago and I still have a couple of lifetme's worth.

Judging from your comments, which are greatly appreciated, and looking at the supply of moose hair I have..... I have enough hair to last me hundreds of lifetimes!!
